*Wichita State*

Wichita State University showcases the finest display of outdoor sculptures in the nation—fixing Dub-K’s large black slabs by the sunflowers of variation,
Weaving the current along the granite
&
in the native gravel of entrepreneurships developed into over 6,000 Huts
and in supremacy on the Eck baseball mound with National Champions of 1989 and more wins struck than any other college can match in recent decades making baseball coalesced with our electrifying basketball program among our favorite past times
to coincide with some of Wichita’s
Favorite Graces—
Shocktoberfest Symmetry of Mud Volleyball,
The songfest of youth’s beauty hurled in a Mud Tug-of-War
&
Our Men & Women making time in a Doomsday Dash
and even fighting world hunger in Can Wars:
The conquerors are the Greeks with the highest castle.
From the keep you can see the banners of glory,
Much like the conference championships of Shocker Baseball & Basketball
Now flying with Delta Gamma pink and Phi Delta Theta blue.
Wichita State connects stars unplugged and deadbolts consumers of energy in this open space.
When our students touch, there is a static that charges the land
while we lift one another
to the abundant fruit that had eluded us;
&
when we grab hold of the growth we have produced, our fused potential
Shocks the Harvest.

Her Hands Were Leaves – Alexi Murdoch

“I see my brother, he is walking in the sun
His back is bare, he carries no burden for anyone
I see the island, a silver line
Brother, how you shine”

Slow Revolution – Alexi Murdoch

“Now Sylvia sat staring out in the depths of a room
A moment of light from her brain cut through the dark and pierced the gloom
Children’s voices were music, came faint through the wall
From such a great height she looked down; it was only the fall”
– Alexi Murdoch

Illinois State University Poem

*Illinois State University*

RED ALERT!
There is a Big Impact coming from the Midwest,
Redbirds of Illinois with rising crests,
Colors Brilliant and Robust ascend from the nest,
Go, You Redbirds: Crash through the tests!
Impact America with wisdom profound,
Teachers of America stand and resound:
“We are Mighty Redbirds—Elevated from the Ground,”
Now guiding nestlings to find their own sound.
The biggest impacts aren’t grounded—they’re found in flight,
Through spaces of Willow, Cherry—all night,
Intoxicated by the throated altitude of life,
With watershed collisions of growth in sight.

MAYDAY!
Illinois’ first public university is still
Making impact with smiling bills,
Because even in flight there are spills & rills,
But arising from plummets and calamity—
We Will.
With open arms let’s guide the birds that badly
Want to guide others to their futures but sadly
Can’t always open up, so like Doors—Love them Madly,
Will Illinois State help you out the nest?
Gladly.

Washburn University Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest
Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)

*Washburn University*

At Washburn, the college experience is not just about the classroom…it is meant to be an experience that develops all that you are.
From an apprentice of your mental exhibits to a true blacksmith of treasures, trotting through the Garvey Center—taking in the piano serenity of Topeka, Kansas.
In the museum of thought—
Recording your song.
Ichabods wear your finest jacket and bow tie to your play.
Great ideas need thinking caps,
so
Washburn Ichabods wear
Top Hats.
From our mind’s balcony, we surrender to the concerto of Washburn—
Becoming purified,
Not consumed.

*K-State*

Inside of the Royal Purple Yearbook,
There is a picture that smiles of Kate.
Kate came to K-State to placate her four-year relationship
with her boyfriend Will—who scored a basketball scholarship.
In these pages endures Kate’s happiness.
She came to K-State because she was in love,
&
Then she fell in love.
She fell for the Haymaker,
The Limestone buildings, the Little Apple, the friendly faithful…
And in this yearbook there are other pictures of Wildcats under this magic spell.
There are students who took the Honor Pledge and now glory stands.
These pages are shed with the colors of scholars: Students Phi Betta Kappa, Rhodes, Truman, Marshall…fierce minds in this Student Scholar Capital.
These colors tell the lives of gleeful declaration. Sons of farmers and grangers, and Wildcats together in the K-State student union, Hale Library, or like Kate & Will—enjoying a cool treat from Call Hall.
There are students still exuberant from the previous night in Aggieville, and there are photos of the Sunflower Showdown—with a volleyball image of Wildcats leaping to another win.

Jayhawk Down.

There are snapshots of shouts of
“Eat ‘Em Up, Eat ‘Em Up, K-S-U” that bring these vivid catcalls to life right in Purple & White.
This yearbook symbolizes more than a timeline of this year’s events.
It proves this is the print of the Wildcat claw;
And whether from Wichita or all the way from Miami,
Together, we can shout,
EMAW!
Manhattan fields and sharpens these claws,
And in this home we all say,
EMAW!

This big campus prepares us in smaller classrooms, so that like Will, everyone can feel like
the big man on campus.
This is a place to discover and love….
It is a place to be in love.

Kate was proud of Will entering the storied Bramlage Coliseum, but she dreaded
The Octagon of Doom:
The Magic 8-Ball that says love can’t make it through the luring flames of infidelity that so many athletes walk through.
Four years later within the Royal Purple,
In spite of the Magic 8-Ball,
Kate & Will have survived the fire,
joining
Wabash Cannonball.

I Got A Name – Jim Croce

If your song gets you nowhere, go there proud. #MorningInspiration

“Like the north wind whistlin’ down the sky
I’ve got a song, I’ve got a song
Like the whippoorwill and the baby’s cry
I’ve got a song, I’ve got a song
And I carry it with me and I sing it loud
If it gets me nowhere, I’ll go there proud”
