*Mr Poet*
I have always found
Your eloquent verse
And commanding tone
To be a ruse as Clever
And Skillful
As your cultured meters
and fitting rhymes.
For the cry I hear
Is not for help
or compassion —
Public sentiment and unbridled expression
lay on the surface of your page,
while between the lines translates ambition,
Insecurity,
A pursuit for validation as much as attention
It is an effort worth a grand applause
And an admiring gleam…
For success is paid in generations
And failure is met with courtesy
And regard…
Just enough to get you through the next page
I have accused your emotions of being
Artificial —
Masterfully Manipulated
to evoke the desired response
Your delivery was lost in your genius lines
and cryptic stanzas:
Message Not Received
I resent you, your motives,
And Everything that you Stand For
* * *
Perhaps as time passed
I may have been hasty,
And If I was wrong —
I apologize greatly
Though our styles may differ,
And that will not change,
That is no excuse
To take motives in vain
I now understand,
And I don’t know why,
But my whole path changed:
Now I’m That Guy
