*Soul Food*

Cornbread and Collard Greens
Is one thing,
You may even refuse golden beans,
But answer me just one thing:
Who doesn’t like a chicken wing?

No tongue can renounce
Fried Chicken,
Regardless of region or pigment,
To push this off on one group —
Is imagination’s own vivid figment.

Pig feet can surely be beat,
Chitlins may take their toll,
But to not like ribs or chicken—
Is to exist without a soul
