University of Nebraska Kearney Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest—Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)
Alma Mater Vol 2. Available March 3, 2015!

*UNK*

There’s blue in the Trails and Rails,
As well
As the Museum of Nebraska Art,
There’s blue on the Kearney
Country Club rugs,
&
The Meadowlark Hills
Golf Course carts.

Blue moves through
Great Platte Archway,
As well as Apollo and Harmon Park,
Blue over sandhills and the Hilltop Mall,
Real Boys in Blue—not Paul Blart.

There’s blue in our
breweries, lounges, and cafés,
There’s even blue in district courts
that comes from Nebraska;
There’s blue moving out from within our school—
Throughout the town of
Kearney, Nebraska.

Have you ever wanted to spread your colors?
Seen on every sidewalk and person—
To a man?
Then come to Kearney, Nebraska,
Because at UNK,
You can.

When you make it up to Downtown Kearney,
And you are ready to paint the town blue,
Make sure you deliver a message from the school:
Tell them that
Louie sent you.

Creighton University Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest—Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)
Alma Mater Vol 2. Available March 3, 2015!

*Creighton University*

Stand beside the Bluejays in the beeches from Heaven,
&
Do not be too eager to flee into the forest—
Not until you are prepared to lead.
Creighton University is a dwelling for leaders like Alpha Sigma Nu who through service are committed to expanding a habitat for humanity.
It is in this youth that Jays are most apt to migrate in their hours of strength from the waters that feed wisdom of headship to baby blues who through passage can see to the helm of a leader’s ship.
It takes a strong will to live to lead; and a Creighton spirit to be willing to lead.
When in the oaks & beeches with a Creighton Bluejay,
And he takes through the pine woods and plants an extraordinary seed…
We do not want you to follow behind him,
We want you to
Follow his lead.

OMAHA! OMAHA!…Poem (University of Nebraska Omaha)

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest—Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)
Alma Mater Vol 2. Available March 3, 2015!

*UNO*

The road of ambition begins with affordable tuition.
For this reason,
UNO paves the way for Omaha’s future by helping them pay their way.
With one of the most competitive tuition costs in the nation, Omaha extends the Omaha Welcome in a MAP program that encompasses Western Iowa and a Midwest student-exchange program that allows students from eight other states to join this small-town community with a Big-City Pulse.
We also offer scholarships for athletes in all of our 15 NCAA sports, and for all students: The Mav Ride gives
A free ride
To enjoy all of what Omaha has to offer—
College World Series Baseball, the popular Old Market with Omaha’s best places to hang out…take in art, drinks, and delicious food—including Saturday morning’s Farmer’s Market in summer & fall, where like in all of Omaha, you’re guaranteed to see someone you know.
Omaha was home to the best wrestling program in the 21st century, winning a staggering 6 out of 8 national championships within a decade. We ruled the wrestling world with an iron fist…
Until we let go of the hold.
We couldn’t save the wrestling, but we can keep building this community
During weeks like Spring Break with Seven Days of Service and by removing stacks from the bills of pursuits. UNO knows that we must invest in our future,
Because we just can’t afford to lose it.
Withdrawing your entire means will not be necessary…
Omaha, Nebraska is a hidden treasure of America which Mavericks agree is truly priceless.
And the University of Nebraska at Omaha is determined to clutch
And share this treasure

By Any Means Necessary.

Mizzou Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest—Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)
Alma Mater Vol 2. Available March 3, 2015!

*Mizzou*

In 1911, the Mizzou family came home
&
Gave the United States Homecoming.
The rallies of school spirit that have sprinted through
America’s high schools and universities are tracked
to the same footprints:
A Streak of Tigers.
Tigers that have fought Jayhawks since the mid-19th century
in an ongoing Border War that spanned over 100 years on battlefields and football fields…
Until in 2011, 100 years after the Tigers came home,
We won the Border Showdown once and for all.
Final Score: 57-54-9.
Our victory laps can be witnessed among the M of Faurot Field and the gym of Mizzou Arena. Our earned stripes
are defended in all arenas of contest, and worn
warmly in a Homecoming that
Shames the rest.

Our Mizzou,
How We Miss You.

The Tigers who have prowled out of Columbia have
Left the undying marks of their hearts.
But they still miss their home—
and our Homecoming.
They miss giving their blood—following the steps of their hearts,
Granting endangered lives with a new start.
They miss the talent show before the big game,
And the Day of Service where we gave in our name.
Dear and lasting are the decorations of laughter
That adorned the spirit rally, and the parade—the night after.
Missouri Gold and Black is packed in a timeless two-week ball,
And after tailgating,
It is time for football.

We could prowl through another hundred years
Just for the chance to relive this field.

Mizzou,
Oh
How We Miss You.

Feels like just yesterday when we walked through the iconic Ionic columns of Columbia.
The columns that fire could not destroy,
instead they remain standing tall like the dome of Jesse Hall.
We leaped to uncover the patchwork that is the deep beauty of this campus landscape:
A botanic garden with deep burgundy hawthorn fruit and us—the blooming youth.
Free to tell of the beauty of Virginia bluebells and the sweet shrubs nature gave near Thomas Jefferson’s grave.
We were the butterflies that sighed love’s velocity into Peace Park,
and lifted our varsity
Way Beyond the Arc:

M-I-Z!!!

It’s good.

Z-O-U!!!

The Fighting Tigers of Columbia have been tapped into secret societies of influence as a conduit to a better Missouri—A richer story. Seeping into what is already a community of tradition, energy innovation, and firsts.

The first university to introduce journalism into the curriculum and continue to make media-journalism advancements—including advancements to the only university-owned TV network affiliate, KOMU.

The first to use a tomato to fight prostate cancer.

The first to bring our alumni back home….

And we’re all tied for first in the race to return.

Our Mizzou,
Oh
How We Miss You.

Come Homecoming,
We are coming back home…

We are the archers of the spring & the fall; the marchers through the gardens en route to the halls.
Walmart developed in Cornell Hall, and in all, hundreds of thousands
Helped to knit
The fabric of the Mizzou Culture
With a cameo from Brad Pitt.
In Lafferre, Engineers have the luck of the Irish
and are destined to marry when the shamrock is crossed,
Then walk the aisle over to the MURR center,
Where with the nation’s best reactor:
No power is loss.
We charge the Quad with Midwestern pleasantry,
The niceness and smiles only found in Missouri,
Because there is but only
One Mizzou—
Where fond hearts and beauty
Will forever roam;
Like Sheryl Crow and the Tigers who left to mark the globe,

We are on the Long Road Home.

Saint Louis University Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest—Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)
Alma Mater Vol 2. Available March 3, 2015!

*SLU*

In 1906, at Saint Louis University,
The first ever forward pass was performed.

We’ve been passing forward ever since.

Our mission has progressed from Grand Center and the Gateway Arch
motioning to the capes of Madrid.
We did
become the first American institution to be European legitimized.
Baptized by the same holy water, though miles apart—
We all impart the duty to serve the same mighty God.

Pass it on.

From Bermuda to Glendale. Tell them the
Faithful prevail.
The St. Louis Faithful.
The grateful who give back until they have given it all.
Here is our Sword:
Our Highest Award.
To those who gave themselves to humankind
&
In kind they have sipped God’s glory.

There are a slew of universities across this nation. But only one
SLU.
The
SLU
Decked in blue and purified white. The campus of urban and peace: An awe-inspiring site.

There are Billkens rubbing the Billiken’s belly and finding service in DuBourg,
Absorbed with respite at the clock tower with comrades, glad to form lifetime friendships with those of the same faith as well as those with different ones. We merge together as a family of over 140 student organizations, including the SLUnatics who come out to Chaifetz and the Billikens Sports Center to support our Saint Louis Billikens.
Saint Louis University is a global village that treats the entire city as our neighbors.
In 2001, at St. Louis University,
The first Campus Kitchen plate was passed forward.

And we’re still passing to this day.

And for the 9th consecutive year, our Health Law program ensures that the sick are properly healed. Anointed the best Health Law program in the nation, we ensure that the mind, body, and heart of the spirit is exorcized from all malignant evils so that the prone will also rise and on Sunday Mass join again with the body of Christ.

In the words of St. Gregory, we give no matter how small, because it is not small to those in need, and neither is it small to God.

At Saint Louis University,
We live and thrive with a Higher Purpose for a Greater Good;
Sanctioned by a
Higher Power and a Greater Glory.

Missouri S&T Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest—Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)
Alma Mater Vol 2. Available March 3, 2015!

*Missouri S&T*

Missouri S&T are Miners of gold, green, and silver;
Climate leaders, the silhouettes of advance,
Transmissions of the Sun and earthwork’s giver—
Providing a century Stonehenge and a Millennium Arch,
In the march to megalith
the Miners deliver.
They reconfigure the sun’s science and form an alliance
Connecting solar energy to manmade appliance,
Applying Science & Technology to make

Human-Powered Vehicles
&
Cars ran by the sun,
We’re Engineers without Borders
On the
Race to the Sun;
Constructing Solar Homes held by energy balance,
Hands-on achievements through collective talents.
Redefining sun’s science—with each brick,
Inspired by our patron saint: Ol’
St. Patrick.
Missouri’s shining silver becomes a
Gold Mine for Green
In the parade and festivities
Where we paint the town green.

Through St. Pat’ and our Miners
We charged and reached the sun,
Powered through solar breaks
&
Breakthroughs by the ton.
At the sun our many treasures sustain and mount up,
With mounds of our Innovations
worked from
The Ground Up.

*UMKC*

Roo-Root for the Roos,
Raise the Gold,
Surf the Blue,
In hostile terrain—
Move past the Boos,
They couldn’t walk a mile
In the Roo Crew’s Shoes.

Son,
When you get to Kansas City,
Make your own way as you follow my footsteps.
I want you to call me any time,
At a moment’s notice I’ll be at your doorstep.
Go and make the most of that beautiful city—
Enjoy the barbecue, the culture, the art,
Be mindful that like you’ll be for me:
You will be in America’s Heart.
Son, you don’t have to go Greek,
Remember, you can always carve your own letters,
Keep fostering that unlimited talent you have,
And in no time, your words will be in New Letters.
Hop at the chance to go see the many fountains,
Then at the Crossroads you’ll be joined by another,
When back on campus go to the Pierson Auditorium,
That’s where I met your mother.
Son, these will be your most cherished years,
And I’ll be here at home—rooting for you,
And one more thing, Son, before you go:
Be sure to
Root for the Roos.

Roo-Root for the Roos,
Raise the Gold,
Surf the Blue,
In hostile terrain—
Move past the Boos,
They couldn’t walk a mile
In the Roo Crew’s Shoes.

Roo-Root for the Roos,
Raise the Gold,
Surf the Blue,
In hostile terrain—
Move past the Boos,
They couldn’t walk a mile
In the Roo Crew’s Shoes.

Getting Through

From Art of Mind II: All In

*Getting Through*

Yes, I got your point,
There’s no need to
Keep Talking Louder…
The fact that you are wrong:
Doesn’t Change Because You’re a Shouter.
