Washington University St. Louis Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest
Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)

*Wash. U.*

We Believe
“Happiness and Moral Duty are inseparably connected.”
Fair Washington, Our Home—
For the virtuous & eclectic.
Sweet are these halls of blended lights endowed in truth,
Blessed Hearts
keep these days—
Days of yore & days of youth.
Eternity is the straw for which we draw the times of awe;
In Honor,
We hold thy august name
firmly taut in the Bear Claw.
Through honest minds and wary tongues
We rest sound with what we achieve,
Strength is solely gathered through truth;
Our Fair Washington,
We Believe.

No Way Should It Be This Easy

From Art of Mind II: All In

*No Way Should it Be This Easy*

You deserve better than this.
You deserve to be immortalized in the shrines of minds and wheeled through Grapevines, not left behind as if you’re not the best find I or he will Ever find.

Inhale.

After you left me shattered then separated I have the nerve to forget your clumsy touch. I don’t care that you dropped me, I feel blessed that you even touched me. Now I’m fighting to keep your memory alive without your

Body or Mind here to Remind what Time we had shared, yeah I know you didn’t care, it’s not like I was your significant other, just a quite insignificant other — who you left behind and moved on to another but I don’t want any other — I want your memory to haunt me so why the hell is it so easy to breathe these days when you’re not here to choke me with your dismissive words or fleeting transitive verbs?

Exhale.

They say Pain is what lets us know we’re alive, but that’s not why I can’t let you go; see the trouble is I find my resolve slipping, when I say, “I Can’t Let You Go.” I don’t care about the pain or “feeling alive” or any of that crap…hell, to be honest, I don’t even think I want you anymore because a man has his pride and all…I just want to remember every word and most of all I simply want to remember your face. I don’t know, I guess I’ve always been a believer in people getting what they deserve. And

That’s What You Deserve.

Fourth Degree Murder

From Art of Mind II: All In

*Fourth Degree Murder*

Let things go their natural course,
Stop getting in the way,
She can make her Own decisions,
We can do without your petty say.
As she drags her friend away,
She could be pulling away destiny,
How can that whole group think it’s OK?
One should have the guts to bring her back to me.
Sometimes it’s only one Blocker,
Weighing no more than a Buck Thirty,
The target I want has her Guard Down,
But this Center is Playing Dirty.
Who knows what could have been?
Maybe a child or even a family of five?
All it takes is One Senseless Act —
To stop fantasies from Growing Alive.
I’m trying to do “Right By Her”
Still I’m being abused more than
Tina Turner…
They Think they are Saving a Friend,
While committing
Fourth Degree Murder.

First Impressions

From Art of Mind II: All In

*First Impressions*

Go on. Strip me down.
I hope to do the same to you.
Look to exploit any vulnerability or fears,
I hope to be around to take yours away.

Pick away at any fault, any verbal trip-up, and keep looking for any weakness;
While
I’ll keep building you up:

Using all your strengths.

A Salesman’s Omission

From Art of Mind II: All In

*A Salesman’s Omission*

“Go out and Live!”
Exclaims the world!
They sell the notion of
Living Every Day
Like it’s the last
and to not let a single minute
Be lost.
With a drowsy eye
and a wavering head —
I sit up in my bed,
and skeptically ask:

“How much does that cost?”

Minnesota State Mankato Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest
Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)

*Minnesota State Mankato*

Mavericks are unafraid to break through fences,
Leaving home to go further than they ever thought possible,
In Mankato there is a spring of mind that dispenses,
Sledding & Shredding through the Great Impossible.
We build owners from home and future home owners,
Founders like Glen Taylor, Building Blocks like Joyce Carey,
Like the Sigma Nu—to MSU we’re all organ donors,
Giving our hearts for future classes to carry.
Carry on, young calves, you Mavericks,
In the land of Mankato, you will never be stranded,
Stable as the Chthonic, we all have bricks
To contribute to this house in which our hearts
Are Branded.
Yes, you’ll always be Mavericks—wherever you may roam,
Here in Minnesota State—you’ve found a permanent home.

University of Minnesota Duluth Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest
Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)

*UMD*

This world is not a place of those who can and those who can’t,
It is a world of those who can and those who won’t,
Shannon & Her Teams prove to those who say that women can’t:
That this world is about those who believe and those who don’t.
Bulldog Women’s Hockey won the first National Championship
Through Miller’s Belief with leadership from Maria and crew,
The Men’s National Champions of 2011 helped guide the ship,
Along with Five Women’s Titles to prove we’re the “those” that do.
Hark! The Duluth Bulldogs have earned a prideful bark!
Along with the pleasure of enjoying the Duluth Nightlife,
Countless bars and pubs then tomorrow to Canal Park,
At Duluth South Breakwater Inner Light.
Breathe the natural beauty of Lake Superior and waterfront,
Carry on like the S.S. William A. Irvin,
Our Drive is for Discovery and there are Bulldogs up front,
When in misty turbulence, stay the course & keep swervin’.
The Duluth Bulldogs are roused by the life our waters arouse,
Those who can: guide themselves and sails of others,
And those who can: adjust the world’s mapped routes…
Causing the waters
to shed from others.

St. Cloud State University Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest
Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)

*St. Cloud State University*

It is a Husky Day in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Neighboring the Beaver Islands, our school spirit is supported by a
Blizzard
of red and black
that twists with our Huskies in a Minnesota snowstorm…
The origins of which can be traced back to
Mainstreet—
Where the Huskies
First meet;
Now the force has progressed in a
St. Cloud City Parade and in a
Lemonade Concert with crafts made of our wild spirits
and then our wild spirits makes its craft out of hockey
in the National Hockey Center.

Then the craft goes wild.

Cheering on Olympians like Bret Hedican and WCHA Player of the Year, Drew LeBlanc, our Hockey represents the Husky tradition:
We are up for any challenge.
Engage the world by challenging yourself….
Just because life is bigger than you,
Doesn’t mean you can’t take it on.

At St. Cloud you are given real-world education so that you are equipped for this ongoing fight…

Education for Life.

St. Mary’s of Minnesota Poem

From Alma Mater: Vol. 1: The Midwest
Available Now for 99 cents! (Link Below)

*Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota*

What kind of student will you be?
What kind of leader will you be?
God gave your being the capacity to become—
Not to merely be.
Through His charism we are adorned with virtue,
And serene with the spread of true men,
Beneath the knowledge and rock of great family men
Lies the granite devotion of a woman…
That shouldn’t be taken for granted,
but rather
Due Granted.
St. Mary’s University endows this virtue
Into the Lasallian service
&
Our Cardinals lead as Christian Brothers
To strengthen society with the powers
of Mothers.
