*Bucknell University*

1,460 nights…or more…
Here we go.

***

1,460 nights of Bucknell…or more…
When these nights are up, we will be back for more.
On Homecoming weekends and to relive these weekends:
We’ll be comin’ ’round like an arc,
Cuz we can’t miss on BU after Dark.

And every day we rise—
We bask in the
Ray of Orange,
And our first task is to
‘Ray for the Orange,
This campus is louder than those other bleak schools,
Here it’s the Laws of Greece:

The Greek Rules.

Every other person at BU goes Greek,
And every other person can also speak,
To the Registers—and all the raging raves,
That the Greeks throw—that will go—to our graves.

The incoming Bison must defer the rush,
To settle on the house they prefer to rush,
Then Sophomore Year:
Out comes the lush.

Every student majors in Animal Behavior,
It’s studied every party—we need to watch our behavior,
To make sure things aren’t getting out of hand,
Such as stopping drinks or keeping shit from the fan.

Though the Bucknell Bison may act like animals,
The parties are actually well conducted,
Studying for the test instead of partying with the rest?
Bro,
You get Points deducted.

But we double major as a “Hidden Ivy,”
Even though by Monday, we all need an IV,
Because on Saint Catherine—you don’t need an ID,
So that term paper just might bleed a high D.

There are preps in the backyard of Houses flashin’ dolla’s,
Some say that Bros are dogs, but, girls, dogs can’t get pop their colla’s.
Come into the backyard and join the conversation
With Greeks and More Greeks who put us in conversation
With the best Greek Life of the Northeast,
But don’t take these words for it, come to 7th Street.

When the days trickle down to 100,
We count the nights down—
Till we’re in Cap and Gown.
But we lived it all down
to the very last night,
Don’t sleep on Bucknell,
We stay up all night.
We hope you’ll join us
and bad fits you just right…
And in keeping the tradition of Bid Day…
May we bid you many a
Good Night.

20 inches, and still no snow day?!
Talk about an injustice…
Skipping classes to chill with friends…
that’s Social Justice.

Bros claim to be
Vigilantes of panties,
They take what feels right
Into their own hands…
The girls say boys always stretch the truth,
True-Life Spinners,
That’s a Rubber Band Man.
Then Bros say with the boy/girl ratio abreast,
It is no wonder Asher loves this college,
With all this beauty you can’t help but pay homage.

While snowball fighting at the Quad, it’s been confirmed:
Today is a Snow Day,
And while the snow may keep us out of class,
Miss tonight’s parties? There ain’t no way.

You can find us Ramming Barnaby’s,
Ram’s Head, House Parties,
Rams Fed—More Parties
than all other
Universities;
Up the streets of Walnut, South High,
So High,
Blazed up—
To the sky,
That Purple Haze—
Kiss the Sky,
And up the streets
The Gold rides by,
Mix them both together
We Ridin’ High
As Chester Rams
Till the day we die;
But in these streets—
We immortalized.

*Bloomsburg University*

Let out your Inner Husky.
Because there will be no better time.
There will be no better place.
Everywhere we are is the place to be.
And every square foot of these 282 acres
Is your home,
So come out and play.

There is a Block Party taking place.
And after our release to attack 54 undergraduate majors
and 20 graduate programs,
Thousands of Huskies, including many representatives of the 250+ student organizations on campus
Have now been Unleashed onto the street.

Some complain in fear of the carnage that ensues every April;
while others see the Huskies Unleashed as a call to come out.
Do not run from the animal inside.
No, not when there are Huskies who play together,
Feed on one another, and even scattered on the street—
Stick together…
Proving that college is the best chance to grab life’s fetters and
Fully Let Go.

These Huskies’ reckless release has made it quite safe for everybody to say,
Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania is the place to Be
You.

Juniata College Tribute

From Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast
Available Now for only 99 cents!

*Juniata College*

As the freshmen
Storm the Arch that is guarded by
The Champions of Juniata College,
Their objective is not only to pass through…
But to make it to the other side.

To stand with Juniata’s caretakers who have
Climbed the Mountain,
Left fests stuffed as Lobsters,
And enjoyed the many traditions
of a campus just small enough…

That everywhere is one big party.

A school that
spreads with togetherness
further than any university.
A first-generation
Uni-Family
That lives in family traditions like
Madrigal, Springfest, and a daily theme
of All Class Night where everyone is welcome
To join at a family table which many weren’t able.

So as these freshmen try and surely fail to make it past the arch,
And the alumni and Eagle vets
Laugh as they fall face-first in the mud,
They are not laughing because the newbies failed,
They’re laughing because they know the joke
Is on themselves…

For these freshmen have already won.

Our Augustinian vision remains clear,
Blue as the lakes, white as a dove,
Spreading peace around the East,
with

True Unified Love

Firm foundations that lend outreach,
Advancing stronger with every club,
Seeking more bread to feed the world,
with

True Unified Love

Fighting breast cancer with team awareness,
In effort as one in this healing hub,
Together we turn to stand and Face AIDS,
with

True Unified Love

It takes a village to raise a child,
To help a young life come to bud,
When you speak of the place where someday they’ll grow,
Tell them of

True Unified Love

In St. Thomas of Villanova Church,
Our prayers—ring from above,
What He grants is found below:

True Unified Love

In the Pavilion where the Wildcats run,
Our cheers—ring from above,
This arena is packed from front to back
filled with

True Unified Love

An elite program & national title:
Was brought by a bona fide shove;
Now it remains, forever engrained,
met with

True Unified Love

Victory, Virtue, Valiance:
What Villanova is made of,
But the most valued component…
is

True Unified Love

Saint Joseph’s University Tribute

From Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast
Available Now for only 99 cents!

AlmaMater_Northeast-Final

*St. Joe’s*

Magis is a math tutor in LaFarge taking a break from Statistics,
to ask her pupil how his day went…then encouraging him and herself
to give more.

It is a junior on the basketball team who suffers a career-ending
injury, thereupon the changing of his life’s direction:
Continues to be cheered on.
‘Cause whenever classmates are down and out,
The Hawks Come Flying In.

St. Joe’s is where we root for the team,
As Hawks sail the Atlantic with routine.

Where even after leaving Hagan in defeat,
With the clock set on zeroes:
Each player will know we still care.

When stars like Jameer have fallen behind,
On & off the court we will still pull Nelson
To a better place that concerns the whole person,
In a strong hold to support the full Nelson.

The crestfallen receive full care,
Until they are ready to perch the sky,
And with this care crossing over to Heaven:

The Hawk Will Never Die.

Temple University Tribute

Available Now for only 99 cents!

*Temple*

This Temple seats the Owls of the Night,
And the first champions of the NIT,
More wins than any of Philly’s Big Five,
The Owls grow strong in the IBC.

The Alma Mater bids us to fight!
These tenacious Owls are not afraid,
By night’s end, they will take the lead…
When led by the Cherry Crusade.

Fight, Temple, Fight!
Owls, take over the night.

Owls at the Center of the Arts,
Yield to the incoming forces,
Drawn in Tyler, Breaking out in Boyer,
The self is freed when creation enforces.

Temple life is a grand production,
Every person has a strong knack,
As on film, when there’s a call for takes…
Bring action and start to act.

Fight, Temple, Fight!
Owls, take over the night.

Dash the Spirit of Philadelphia,
Cruise the night afloat & ashore,
Into South Street,
Center & Old City,
Then ride off with the night you tore.

At Draught Horse you’ll tap Temple Love:
Temple Made. Philly Made. Self Made.
Perseverance conquers the 15th round…
Next week it’s another dark raid.

Fight, Temple, Fight!
Owls, take over the night.

Flash the Spirit of Philadelphia,
Into your chips & the yearbook,
Franklin Square, The Liberty Bell:
The Polaroid of Freedom that Philly shook.

Please—Touch—the palpability of the city:
The museums, the streets, the pulse…
Take the CityPASS, snap and explore…
Then follow your natural impulse.

March, Temple, March.
Then Owls,
Take over the night.

Temple takes the Owls of the Night,
To discover these Acres of Diamonds,
Whenever an Owl is within sight,
The murky horizon always brightens.

Temple’s colors run Broad Street,
Then the Liacouras Center,
They graduate to go run the world,
Times at Bell Tower—the Owls reenter.

March, Temple, March.
&
Owls, take with you these nights.

Long Hair and Innocence

From Art of Mind III: The Evolution of a Trilogy (Available Now)

long-hair-and-innocence-debi-watson

I saw a young girl in the field today.
She wore a long, antediluvian, almost robe-like light purple dress that went down to her ankles…which were covered by high white socks. She wore brown leather saltwater sandals and she had incredibly long hair tied in the longest and widest french braid I have ever seen. It had to be five inches thick, and went down to the small of her back…held by a thin, light-blue elastic holder. The tail end of her hair went all the way down to her thigh. It’s the type of hair that only a young girl could wear. It symbolized her innocence, as did everything about her. I didn’t catch a glimpse of her face, but she probably had eyes of bluestone, and perhaps light freckles…

Her back prevented me from seeing the rest of her, but I saw more than just that long hair and innocence. Yes, I could swear I saw fearlessness. The type of bravery and vigilance usually reserved for whiskered grown men and muscle-bound hunters was collected by this Long-Haired Gatherer…
Who stood arranged to protect
Her innocence.

Painted by Debi Watson
