Yield to the incoming forces,
Drawn in Tyler, Breaking out in Boyer,
The self is freed when creation enforces.

Temple life is a grand production,
Every person has a strong knack,
As on film, when there’s a call for takes…
Bring action and start to act.

Fight, Temple, Fight!
Owls, take over the night.

Dash the Spirit of Philadelphia,
Cruise the night afloat & ashore,
Into South Street,
Center & Old City,
Then ride off with the night you tore.

At Draught Horse you’ll tap Temple Love:
Temple Made. Philly Made. Self Made.
Perseverance conquers the 15th round…
Next week it’s another dark raid.

The murky horizon always brightens.

The Entrance Sand Bar

However, you do not need to travel out at sea to experience the calm of the water complemented by the fresh green peninsula with golden edges or the steady waves that crash against it. Yes, now you can join them all and explore this incredible view: All from inside your room.
You don’t have to be Abel Tasman or James Cook to navigate this setting to a wide-open vista.
Just pull up a chair, grasp the helm of your mind,

Sail Away.

Making

The Spiritans form Duquesne,
The Tamburitzans who danced and sang
Find inspiration and contribute
To places that help the soul commute.

It makes

The scholar fight to stay up,
The crowd boost to put the Dukes up,
The knees on A-Walk continue to stride,
And our groups to keep—Faith Alive.

It makes

The learners chase the class ring,
Tamburitzans still continue to sing,
Liturgies swell with cheers & tears,
The nightlife live beyond these years.

It is

The helper to find God & then oneself,
Helping the lost to find someone else,
&
Just as it helps joined man & wife:
It is the Spirit that gives life.

Almighty God,
You gave us this strength.
Now we, too,
Must share it.

The eternal dream is
to wake the weary who
lie prone from asperities laid upon them
by making things right so they can stand upright,

Where after dreams
Of adventures of night
Macs can awake every day to this true surreal sight:
A place they can serve and surrender their all,
Rise to Power,
Then walk with Might in the Immaculata light.

Lehigh University Tribute

Today brought a Delta back to remember,
This blood rivalry fought the month of November,
He forgot not—the shed of Lafayette,
Lehigh as a whole—he’ll never forget.

Mountain Hawks come and fly as they will,
But they always will—return to The Hill,
As sure and as soon as the moon comes up,
These houses always—provide a full cup.

Lehigh’s Frat Houses are the home of Beirut,
Teams lose, not moan, like Dad’s, they root,
They root for more beer…then they root for beer,
Making Hawks like this Delta—stoked to be here.

Back on The Hill to drink wheat by the acre,
Like blue to the ‘bells, it is in his nature,
A member for ten years, but he is still rushing—
Through thrills with his friends before Lafayette’s crushing.

Still game for hundred-cup, and any Beirut game,
The blasts from the past is why this Delta came,
Such as Greek Week and his great bro tales,
Like having girls in his room—right after “Hotels.”

The drinks in his room were from a full liter,
Whenever guests arrived, the vodka was the greeter,
Lehigh’s party scene is called “Right to the Chase,”
In everybody’s room’s a Lehigh Bed Race.

In a school that’s as famed as PA’s Lehigh,
There comes responsibility and work knee high,
And for every failure and data faux pas,
There’s a successful party—like Delta’s Mardi Gras.

This is a hidden ivy, but we’re all in the stands,
Lehigh is the team that never disbands,
Alums like this Delta have permanent spots—
In Bethlehem, while every Leopard just rots.

The City of Bridges is the way to the heart;
&
When The Steel City finds new ‘plants,
The heart is put to work.

Whether from Pennsylvania or transplanting from out of state,
CMU quickly becomes home.
Through midnight to dawn we work on our fence…
The Fence that doesn’t keep out,
But brings outsiders together.

The Fence is painted with Tartans
Until every border is overlapped…
The surface we bleed our colors
is
The Cut.

Our paintings inspire.
They inspire the common community to create uncommon ideas.
They inspire community.
They inspire mending fences of disharmony,
Providing meeting destinations like Kresge Theatre—
Where the art we foretold in advance
Can come to life from our hearts
&
Advance.
This is the fence that pushes us to cross to the other side
As graduates,
While making us want to stay a little longer…
OK,
Maybe a lot longer.

It inspires us to hang to this Carnegie inspiration…
Captured by this fence that not only inspires our work,
But our humor…
And like any true piece of art,
It continues to inspire new magic.

It inspires us to make every Spring Carnival the best one to date…
And to charge for the Buggy Race prize out the gate,
It inspires the various Greeks to proclaim
The loved fraternity whence they came.

This paint, this art, this fence,
Is the movement of CMU for the nation
to
Inspire Innovation.

Carnegie Mellon is art, labor—with such great perks,
Where just as the gems we are bound to create,

The heart is in the works.

Leave her be.
Don’t you
ever wake a mental giant.
If you think one can’t dream without eyes closed— Look Again.
If you think she is before you and not off away deep in thought—
Think again.
Her eyes are barely hanging on her own weaving words while her mind is painting structures in clouds high with
soaring birds.
Her introspection draws a melody with a violet and vivid glisten,
Her wheels are rapidly turning,
all while
She stands in place to listen.
Leave her be. Her ungrounded earth is filled with patterns foreign
to you and me.
Her eyes are not parallel to this globe’s green static lins—
at first glance her thoughts are beneath it…
but when you stop and
Look Again: Her mind is Clearly Above It.

For over 270 years,
Penn has left its mark.

Laws without morals are in vain.
The pursuit of happiness begins with the freedom to earn it.
Our country’s constitutional laws ensure that all the deserving go to the Penn
where the institution’s stripes are worn by the stars who paved their own way.
Time to Shine.
Making History.
Injecting college with its first medical school, and like our forefathers in Independence Hall:
We endorsed the first union.
Where students meet in mergers of the CEOs and entrepreneurs that the great business minds of 1881 envisioned in their meeting room that has grown into the classrooms of Wharton.
Since 1881, Penn’s belief in the next generation has led to the most stable business program of any university for every subsequent class to inherit. So that in four years when Quakers go out of Business,
They are ready for a Boom
that fires up the sky like the bombs of July.

Their development began here in America’s birthplace…

Where the locals reinvent the pub crawl with the Philly Grub Crawl,
Then go running up The Steps like Balboa—pre-brawl,
To discover the stature of Philadelphia’s art,
It is the UPenn canvas many flights got their start,
The first round was at the crack of the Bell,
It sounded with freedom to give ambition the gale
To turn corners in nursing and engineering,
Programs of music that appeal:
So they deserve another hearing.
We have The Penn Band, The Mask & Wig, and Glee Club,
With the oldest literary society built on brotherly love,
Together we walked through these trees in the harshest degrees,
As young locusts
Who’re now set to take leads.
We have moved up on these runs through Penn Town,
From Penn we’ll exit from the top,
Gonna Fly Now.

We made it.

Onto the Row of Greek Revival road houses in the Village of
The Capital of the World.
New York City, we love you…

But we are so ready to take you on.

It is found by tourists of the soul that
Love is its own most formidable challenge.
And with inspirations of MacDougal Street,
Washington Park, and the culture of Manhattan,
We are ready to go to war.

The students of NYU are here to join the melting pot of those who have not only survived the war that has felled so many disillusioned causalities, but who helped build this fire. A fire akin to that of the brave men who stepped forward on 9/11 and of all the artists who have continued to form the composition of this city…
Spike Lee-Charles Flint-Woody Allen-Adam Sandler-Don Hewitt-Billy Crystal-Scorsese-Hathaway-Yuri Gitman-Salinger-Warren Adler-Edgar Allen-Allen Ginsberg-Angelina-Ang Lee-Bob Dylan-Lady Gaga-Russell Simmons-Jerry Seinfeld-Sean Combs-Alec Baldwin-Bob De Niro-Larry David-Billy Joel:
They didn’t start the fire…
But they helped instill it in every New Yorker, new and old…
The desire to see this city thrive;
Along with the embers they have each contributed to the empyrean flame.

This is where opportunities are given to young interns until it’s their turn to help the fire burn.
Where risk-takers find the most gain, and those we’ve lost, we
Never Forget.

New York University is where the art of the apple is not still life, but the core of its non-stop bustle.
Where arts and science Perseveres and Excels…for the movements of non-conformity never sells,
It only tells.
It tells of the reality that honesty can create,
&
No criticism can deconstruct.

New York University is where a valve of Violet merges with the Pierian Spring, and the bared portrait of each class can drink in the musings of their reflections.
This is the city of The Five Boroughs. The city of chance, survivors, skyscrapers, and fighters.
And when we return back to the Square
for the final ceremony,
We will look in the loving eyes of family and friends, and stand with the great alumni of this university,
Each staring at the masterpiece of the Big Apple,
Then with pride we will claim it:

We made it.
