*The George Washington University*

The facts are in.
They’re in the printed papers of this Colony of Patriots
Who Hatchet the iron curtain
with the arm of
The Press,
The First Amendment is what each speech
in Jack Morton
is first
To address.
It is the sounding passage of the speakers on stage,
transcribed in their very presence before their first phrase.
All GW organizations
From the Dems to Republicans
come together on the position that
Liberty is a law we each must defend,
These opposing sides adjoin on this end.
Regardless of your alliances, we all have the freedom to listen,
so when you hear a moving speech,
Remember,
You do have the freedom to cross over to the other side.

The nation’s best gathers in this capital within its
Intellectual Hub and
Unite nations like the IAS.
We are a republic of “potent engines” filled with ambition
supplanting political power with the public voice.
We take after the monuments of this capital,
Taking the same steps of Lincoln and Washington
to fight for the right to stand apart
as we protect this equal ground.
George Washington University takes command
of this duty from those who pass the buck to Colonials
as the currency of today’s times becomes lifetimes,
and this century converts to hundreds.

Deliver the orders of this nation’s charge to George Washington—
In Us
You Can Trust.

The Catholic University of America Poem

*The Catholic University of America*

The Lord’s clear, unspoken words:
“Let there be right.”
CUA does right by His light,
And His word in all its depths,
And for days that missed those lost first steps:
We will March for Life.

We will take the Way of the Cross,
&
Encounter with the Spirit,
Unwavering Cardinals near it
Through prayer, worship, and retreats,
MLK Service that day and all weeks,
Finding injustice so we can clear it.

Founded by Bishops, led by Cardinals,
CUA believes in the power of alms,
A power given from cleansing palms,
Delivering good like the mothers who lift,
Children too are a gift,
As written in Psalms.

God is our light, as well as our path,
Headed where the righteous share what we do,
Meeting our Lord will bare what we knew,
In this kingdom spread—for all the dedicated,
Here where our faith will not be validated…
It
Shall
Renew.

Breaking Love

From Art of Mind: Philosopoems to the World

Available Now!

AOM I

*Breaking Love*

“Love Can Move Mountains,”
While still
“Standing the Test of Time…”
In spite of wisdom’s common tokens,
Love is quite Easily Broken.

Romance’s Greatest Poet,
Love’s Greatest Romance,
A Poet’s Greatest Lover:
Are all exposed to the advance
of Flesh.

The Fragrance of Love
Is Not
As Potent as Lust,
This Natural Truth
Is what All Couples can Trust.

It seems their slumbering scene,
Put all suspicions to rest…
Though all this really means:
They’re not yet put to the test.

Even if conscience and
Fraud Records are Clear,
This is only until –
Temptation’s Head Appears.

Frequent requests
From a potential mistress,
Many men could resist,
Now try a Worldly Goddess.

That gleam in her eye
Is only shining for one,
Yet that scream of a sigh
Could be evoked by a ton.

It’s not a question of love,
Or a matter of Faith…
What determines your fates –
Is lurking predator traits.

The most devoted spouse
Can still be aroused
By a face in the crowd
If situation allowed.

Some girls may be Chaste,
And some guys may be Saints,
But one Room for Mistakes
Is really All that It Takes.

The lights go out,
Upstairs rendered dim…
All Digital Control –
Handed over to Him.

Cupid’s Savory Potion,
Is what open mouths show,
But in this unlit Heaven –
Their sweeter juices flow.

This carnal paradise —
No mind could forget,
These illicit memories –
Do not reject regret.

The frame, pillar and post
Crack during this primitive poke,
Vows gone cold without cover –
Merge with all the articles Broke.

To “Break Love” is drenched
In Lust,
It’s a term for
Rebels of Passion…
It upholds that
For a Positive Action –
Lies a Stimulating
Wicked Reaction.

While Couples deny this Test,
so they can continue to be Making Love…
Lovers aren’t just Making Lust,
They’re also “Breaking Love.”

Howard University Creative Piece

From Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast
Available Now for only 99 cents!

*Howard University*

Step. Step like the Alphas. Alphas like Martin Luther King who walked. Then walked up the steps of Lincoln Memorial to give Howard the dream to jump into. Step. Step into the Howard Experience. Then take a step back into Founders Library to reflect. Reflecting back on the activists who by activating their dreams—made The Dream our reality. The lineage of the Howard dream runs deep—don’t sleep. Every time we wake to Reslife it’s thanks to past lives. Lives that made change by making sense, in the past they fought on so now we can change it to present tense: This is the life. And Patricia Bath, Cathy Hughes, Edward Brooke, Sharon Kelly, Emma Gillett, H. Naylor Fitzhugh, and Zora Neale Hurston are only some of the names that made it. Before they made it out there, they made it in here. Bison like Alexander Darnes went from the cornfield to practicing in the medical field and now every First Friday the Greeks are on the grass where they have their own tree but they still branch out to Stomp the Yard without a DJ—Stomp the Yard without a “DJ.” Out here where to the pretty girls you hear the Kappas sayin’, “Yo, Baby, Yo, Baby, Yo!” And to them Pretty Boys you hear the ladies sayin’, “Yo, Baby, Yo, Baby, Yo!” At the Quad I heard somebody say, “What you call a freshman introduced to the Booty Wall? Ms. New Booty.” Then I heard ’em say, “Girl, get off that Booty Wall so we can see what’s shakin’!” What’s the move tonight? Because after all these bad lines we bound for some good times. Any time our people get together it’s ’bout to be a good time. Gettin’ it in at The Punchout, Blackburn & the Café; UGL, Ho-Chi, it’s crackin’ every day. Crackin’ like a sidewalk—we steppin’ every day; Crackin’ like a sidewalk, we steppin’ every day. Step. Step into a movement that started after the Civil War and into the Civil Rights movement. An object in motion is hard to stop. Bison in motion is when it’s time to step. Get the steppin’ like the Parade, and this Homecoming makes ya’ll shit fade. Step. Homecoming makes the Alums step back. Nah, not to reflect but to step back and relive…Welcomed back to the dream that today we live. Rep. Rep this school, Showtime. Rep our style, Fashion Show—show ’em what we in; The exclusive line of fashion—they can’t get in. At the Fashion Show we take the show and put it on, tryna rock with us—stop the jokes and puttin’ on. Homecoming is the shit—intestines of Ben’s Chili; ya’ll can do it better? lol, oh really? Concerts of R&B, Reggae, & Yardfest, and when it comes to steppin’, ya’ll know who does it best. At Homecoming, it’s not fraternities and sororities…it’s Brothers and Sisters. Brothers and Sisters in their home, and together, they tear the house down. It is under the Homecoming spotlight where the Divine Nine shines. AKAs out here doin’ the most….the beauty of these sisters is a Service to All Mankind. All the girls—they blow it up. And everybody loves it when the Deltas throw it up—That’s a Love Triangle. The Zetas tell ’em “Step Off!” as they step on stage then show off. They livin’ the life of the Blue and White, and the Sigmas know about that…yeah, they about that life. The Sigmas are Here! Fresh in that Blue and White! Like twins starin’ in a mirror—show ’em what Brotherhood looks like. Once them Kanes in the air, the Kappas hold it down: ♫Hold it down, hold it down: The Nupes hold it down! Hold it down, hold it down, The Nupes hold it down!♫ Put that in Hilltop: The Nupes are at the mount; other steppers who show up—go down for the hard Kount. Then the Outlaws step so cold—it’s set to North Dakota, they steal the whole show when they give ’em one Iota. ♫Dawg♫ Que Dogs—Gold Boots Stompin’! Que Dogs—Gold Boots Stompin’! Atomic Dog goes off and it’s Calling All Ques! The need for real men on stage was the cue. Omega Men—Calling All Ques. The need for real men on stage was the cue. At the end of it all it’s all family getting together at the crib….whose crib? Any crib. House parties keep runnin’ on Homecoming. All the alums around the world—keep runnin’ to Homecoming. The energy of the Bison is runnin’ on Homecoming. Washington, D.C. and College America: we runnin’ on Homecoming. And every step we take, like this heritage we helped make, like our Founders whose drive wouldn’t break—will be together. Homecoming brings Howard together. To a campus we made together. This is a campus that sits together like these very words. Remains close like these very words. Share the D.C. dream. Come share the Howard experience. Then, like this school and our patented move…you, too, will stand apart, when on these grounds, you

Step.

Georgetown University Poem

From Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast
Available Now for only 99 cents!
(Link Provided at End of Piece)

*Georgetown University*

Oh Lord,

How we give praise for the Blue and Gray,
We give thanks for this school each day,
Our union has won us the right to say,
We are the faithful Hoyas of Georgetown.

Thank You for the strength to take ownership
of our school with a Hoya’s tautened grip,
Frontiers like The Corp will hone this ship,
Equipped for the land of Old Georgetown.

The Students of Georgetown have come forth,
To give thanks for day one and the days henceforth,
Capped by G’ Day on the month of fourth,
Then we bear our gowns with Your grace.

Before we depart, we take off to heights,
Adjacent the Capitol—and other great sites,
Healy, Potomac, basketball nights,
Thank you for teams that changed basketball’s pace.

Led by Ewing, we took the biggest prize,
The ’84 Champs, who made the banner rise,
We’ve had great centers take our school to highs,
And when we prayed for a guard, You gave us The Answer.

Guarded by Your Power—to greatness—we send
Stars to the next plane with Your presence—amen,
We praise these players, but You blessed these men…
As talent’s Highest enhancer.

We ask that Cura Personalis remains,
For future Generations—through our remains,
To the next life when our spirit regains,
The same force while in Hoya Blue.

We ask that contemplation is put to action,
In our government, our clubs, each faction,
In improved society, we’ll reap satisfaction,
When all the credit is due to You.

Please grant us the courage to brave rough waters,
Like our champion sailors who prey like otters,
In the flow of Your song, we pray as lauders,
Boosting Georgetown in Thy righteous name.

Georgetown welcomes all, regardless of faith,
Freshmen arrive and we give them Escape,
To find brothers and sisters—who can relate,
From different backgrounds to all in the same.

Georgetown is Union; Both Into One,
Where teams, dreams, and blue streams have won,
The grounds where Hoyas in concourse have run,
Through great rivers and back to the docks.

In Your name, Lord, we pray on behalf
of Hoyas who have chosen the Jesuit path,
Let trespassers against us—feel our wrath,
Your might & Hoya Saxa is What Rocks.

University of Delaware Creative Piece

From Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast
Available Now for only 99 cents!
(Link Provided at End of Piece)

*UD*

By ratifying the United States Constitution in 1787,
Delaware not only became the first state of our
remarkable country,
but it enabled citizens like the Blue Hens
to wade the river onto Delaware,
Receiving payouts of freedom
in this settlement.
These wings have taken programs in horticulture to new grounds,
and in physical therapy & engineering, our anthem sounds:
“Knowledge is the light of the mind,”
And every soil
Must have light.

This is where American soil was first planted,
Where it was signed that our freedom
had been granted.

That freedom is still found in Delaware today,
You can hear them say,
U…S…A…

Blue Hens rejoice
U…S…A…

This is our voice
U….S…A…

Let Freedom Ring
U…S…A…
U…S…A…
U…S…A…

USA! USA! USA! USA!

UD is where freedom is celebrated every day.
Where we ring the Victory Bell every time
The Blue Hens Strike.
Where the best cheerleaders in the nation show how
Gleeful we are to be here.
Where the marching band twirls the school spirit in the air,
And it falls right into the Cockpit.
GO UD! Demonstrate the liberty of our country!
Freshmen who are new to freedom celebrate by
Revolting Russell’s policies…
Smoking.
Drinking.
Vandalizing the sanctity of quiet hours.
These values persist as Hens move up to Ray Street,
and is a staple in the rooms of Dickinson.
Similarly to the signers of our constitution,
in the party scene, Delaware
Dares to be First.
Including house parties where no one
Dares to be first,
At UD,
No one dares to keep thirst.

There is binge drinking found on Main Street,
Chased up
With Kate’s nachos and Grotto Pizza.
Hens enjoy a warm meal up on Iron Hill,
and wash it all down again with a
home-brewed cold lager.

Main Street is where like our
Prize-winning Cheerleaders,
We give censorship the flip-off.
We remind our countrymen through our riot:
That we are on a strict no-give-a-fuck diet.

This, fellow Americans,
Is the New Revolution:
College debauchery and drunkenness at its finest.

This is what independence looks like.
Fellow Americans,
Let Freedom Ring:

UD! UD! UD! UD!

UConn Creative Piece

From Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast
Available Now for only 99 cents!
(Link Provided at End of Piece)

*UConn*

Sons of Connecticut,
Beget!
Spawn a legacy
they shall never forget!
Navy Men,
Defend this court,
Let invaders know
This is our sport.

Hold the colors steady and strong,
The Navy & White outlined with red,
Hoist banners of years waged & conquered,
A testament to Husky men who have led:

Commanders like Ollie & Jim Calhoun,
Who in strategy’s belly are always consumed,
Minding the notes of the cadence of shots,
Assuring Huskies have positions assumed.

Captains like Allen, Gordon, and Walker
Remained on guard as UConn’s floor generals,
Forwards like Hamilton aimed and let it Rip,
Finding the targets & winning in general.

Huskies salute to
Connecticut’s sons,
Inside of Ted’s
and
Huskies Bar,
A river meets the mouth at King Hill Road,
Turn-up louder, yell where we are:

A party school with full provisions,
The constitution’s haven within bombs’ bursts,
UConn, found in Storrs, Connecticut:
The Center of the College Basketball Universe.

~ ~

Daughters of Connecticut,
Beget!
Birth a legacy
they shall never forget!
Navy Women,
Defend this court,
Let invaders know
This is our sport.

Joining the men to rule this nation,
Our women in total have won nine banners,
Breaking the record and still vying for more,
Enshrining the dome—Queens of the manor.

Showing basketball’s not just a king’s court,
With the co-ed dynasty of this sport.
Reigning together in 2004,
And in 2014 every adversary
Fell to the Queens who rejoined the Kings:

The 10-Year Royal Anniversary.

The commander of this fleet is Geno Auriemma,
Drilling firm habits into his platoon,
Directing the best win streak in college hoops,
At streak’s end, the winning resumes.

Captains like Ralph, Bird, Taurasi,
Remained on guard as UConn’s team leaders,
Lobo and Walters—Front and Center!
They kept us #1 as the game’s top-seeders.

Huskies salute to
Connecticut’s daughters,
And the best coach ever in women’s by far,
A steady rumstorm befalls the head in The Jungle,
Turn-up louder, yell where we are:

A party school with full provisions,
The constitution’s haven within bombs’ bursts,
Storrs, Connecticut: Home of the Huskies,
Center of the College Basketball Universe…

A space documented and well celebrated,
A legacy our
Sons and Daughters
Created.

Quinnipiac University Creative Piece

From Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast
Available Now for only 99 cents!
(Link Provided at End of Poem)

*Quinnipiac University*

A Quinnipiac Bobcat has found a quiet place in the woods of the Sleeping Giant State Park
a short walk from campus.
Hours after his slumber, and hours before each home game,
This is how he awakens.

It is the brunch hours of an autumn day, and the Bobcat
is marked with quiescence in these mountain trails
in the calm before he storms the TD Bank Sports Center.
But before he goes to win the Heroes’ Hat with his fellowmen,
He first must complete his ritual.

The Bobcat takes the Blue Trail of the park to a secret hiding place.
Hidden under leaves beneath the umbrage of a black oak, he finds a letterbox
left for his examination. With a knowing grin upon his face, he opens the note
left by his love. The message is simple and brief:

Meet me outside Toad’s Place after the game.

A custom shared by the couple after every win, though never formally
planned in advance. He now advances up to the chin of the mountain with an affecting view of the
Quinnipiac campus. As he prepares for tonight’s game, so do
His classmates who are currently chatting about it by the fireplace of the student center.
Some stayed up all night in the 24/7 library studying facts about the season and tonight’s opponents,
and there are also roommates making plans and sending invites to friends who will join them
at the face-off. Then they race off to watch the team conquer the so-called giant of Yale.

As the Bobcat looked out into the campus, he could only think of how touched he is
To be in one of the hottest hockey programs in the nation,
To be in a campus surrounded by such beauty,
And to have a lady love he was fortunate enough to meet

At Toad’s Place after the game.
