28 Days Until Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast

In football lore, we have “The Catch,” “The Drive,” and as of February 1, 2015, there is “The Call.” What took place at the end of SuperBowl 49 was the worst decision in the history of Pro Football, and it cost the Seattle Seahawks dearly.

Well my poetry lovers and college enthusiasts, we must do better. We must make better decisions when opportunities present themselves. In 28 Days, when Alma Mater Vol. 2: The Northeast is released, you will be able to travel to places like the City of Champions – Boston and all other great towns of the region by way of the top colleges of the Northeast. And what THIS decision costs YOU…is only 99 cents.

Pete Caroll with DirectTV got his boys a 24-14 lead in the 4th quarter of the SuperBowl. Pete Carroll with cable made the worst call in the history of football. Don’t be like that Pete Carroll, make better decisions by experiencing and learning about the best universities in the country through a critically acclaimed series of poetry….for 99 cents.

Wright State University Poem

Alma Mater Vol 2. Available March 3, 2015!

*Wright State University*

A second-semester sophomore at Wright State University was flying through her Classical Humanities Program when she received a phone call that changed her life.
Then another.
And another.
She received these life-changing phone calls for months until she decided to make a change in order to make a difference.
It was a rocket-propelled grenade that exploded near the Black Hawk helicopter
that took the limbs of a fighter pilot from Dayton, Ohio. They projected the recovery time with therapy would be a year; but with the care of nurses and doctors with the best neuroscience and rehab, she has learned to move forward and fight for tomorrow with the ammo of hope.
Some people change majors in order to change lives, and after dining at The Hangar with her attentive roommate,
She decided to change majors in her sophomore year
To become a Rehabilitation Services Major—
So that she can help others like people helped her sister.
Wright State is the double clutch that gears us to the direction we are called to go—
Transmitting ambushes of epiphanies above the safety propellants.
After graduating into the world resolved to make a difference,
She got another phone call from her sister;
This time to share that she will graduate next semester.
With the therapy and artificial parts given in her care,
She was strong and prepared when Wright State gave her life new legs.
She graduated a Proud Raider just like her baby sister;
Now through the wings that carry,
The Wright Sisters are
Flying across Dayton, Ohio…
In quest of more kind lives
To Change.

There is something about the Bowling Green colors that cheer us forward as
BG Warriors.
With the Ohio spirit of the 1984 Hockey National Champions,
Our Falcons are patterns of work on ice revived to vibrant colors
Swapped on the BGSU Ice Arena like our Swamp Arts—
Orange and Brown is beautiful.
And like a freshman unconfident and diffident,
There is nothing like when beauty speaks to you.
School Cheer is our Language.
Dance is our interpretation.
The Effervescent BGSU Marching Band & Cheerleaders
Are examples of what rolls Bowling Green along to curling time’s stones
As Glassblowers of the unbending hourglass.
1910-Today
Is Our Class.
Together we have danced for over 100 years in an
Unforgettable dance marathon.
We unleash the rabid love for our school
like
Sic-Sic,
And together with the cheerleaders, marching band, athletes, and every member of our 300-plus student organizations,
The Orange and Brown run together—
Birds of a Feather.

If you’re from out of state,
you may ask,
“Why Falcons?”
But
If you’re from Bowling Green, Ohio…

Fierce Guardian

Fierce Guardian

*Fierce Guardian*

The wind blows on his dusty mane,
but this guardian remains still.
He has suffered wounds from battles from every predator and prowler this open jungle has seen, but he remains in wait — unfearing of another battle, for he will fight until his last dying breath…and regardless of the outcome —
You Will Remember He Was There.

He continues to lie in wait.
He will not hunt you down…but he
Will Not Be Your Prey.
He will protect his young, his legacy, and his territory…
and with weary eye and a feeble heart —
This land will bear the markings of a
Fierce Guardian.

Proceed at your own foolish risk.
You’ll only grant his last dying wish.

Welcome to Dayton, Ohio—where man learned to fly.
Where the Wrights gave aviation creation
With brotherly union reaped through the sky.
At UD, we propel this model
As the blueprint of communion since 1913—
Providing an outline for all Flyers to follow
When the boys of St. Mary rebuilt this city.
Overflowing the Great Miami River—
We showed true
Teamwork springs victory.
We victor in games scheduled in the UD Arena,
then
Wash, Rinse, Repeat.
In road stadiums, our Flyers shut it down:
Control, Alt, Delete.
We land in The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception,
Where every Flyer receives a reception
of ethos inspired beneath the cupola—
Teaching the value of population resurrection.
Every heart should fuse with the life of Brown Street,
And exhilarate on the trails of our river bikeways:
This beautiful earth must inherit the meek.
We are Catholic brothers and committed lay people,
A family devoted to include…
